Delete your u-mankind account
This page is for anyone who wants their u-mankind account and its data deleted. You do not need the app installed to ask.
In the app (fastest)
- Open u-mankind and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Delete account.
- Confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. You are signed out, the encryption keys on your device are erased, and the data listed below is removed. There is nothing to wait for and nothing to email.
Without the app: delete with your passkey
If the passkey for your account is on this device or synced to your Google account, you can delete the account here, even if the app is gone, the account is suspended or banned, or you are outside Canada or in Quebec.
This passkey belongs to an account created on , status: . Deleting it is permanent. This request is valid for five minutes.
After the passkey prompt you will see when the account was created and its status before anything is deleted, so a wrong pick among several accounts costs nothing.
If you cannot use a passkey here
Email privacy@u-mankind.com with the subject “Delete my account”. We answer within 30 days.
Please read this first, because accounts are anonymous:
- We hold no name, email address or phone number, so we cannot find an account from your email alone.
- An email cannot prove that an anonymous account is yours, so we will not delete an account on an email alone — nobody can have your account deleted by writing to us. We will answer with what can be done: the passkey button above, or the app’s Settings.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted: everything that identifies or serves your account — your passkey and device key, your encryption keys, sign-in sessions, profile and supporter standing, the ratings you received, the blocks you placed, and your consent record.
Kept: a marker that the account existed and was deleted, with its status, any sanctions and its safety risk score; reports and safety records about the account; and blocks that other people placed on it; and the ratings you gave and the reports you made, which stay with the other person’s account. These remain to prevent and investigate abuse. They are not linked to anything that identifies you. The retention period for these records is under legal review.
Already gone: conversations. Messages are end-to-end encrypted and never stored after delivery, so there is nothing to delete.
